Organic Summit 2023:  Greenovation for the Next Generation Propels Action

OTTAWA, Ontario (November 2, 2023) - The Canadian organic industry is valued at over 10 billion dollars, and Canada is the fifth largest organic market in the world, with much untapped potential for growth.

Growing and strengthening the Canadian organic sector will be the central focus for the Canada Organic Trade Association’s (COTA) Organic Summit 2023. This highly anticipated sector event will be held in Ottawa on Monday, November 20 as a hybrid event.

Coinciding with COTA’s Annual General Meeting and Parliament Day, the Organic Summit is where business leaders throughout the organic value chain and policy makers gather and exchange to advance organic in Canada.

The Organic Summit 2023 theme “Greenovation for the Next Generation” embodies an exploration of how the organic sector can adapt, innovate, and spearhead further development to benefit the environment and economy, securing a brighter future for generations to come.

Organic is a method of production and processing that helps mitigate climate change through sustainable practices which protects waterways, enhances biodiversity, and promotes human and soil health. As a third-party regulated and audited assurance system, enforced by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, certified organic products provide assurances that rigorous production standards have been met.

“We have a star-studded speaker lineup and sessions for this year’s summit. This is the time for the organic industry to come together to help make Canada’s Organic Action Plan a reality. The sessions will inspire the sector with the possibilities of growth in organic and explore how we propel our sector forward,” states Tia Loftsgard, executive director of COTA.
